Controller's Office Technical Support

The technical support team provides local desktop and server support to units within the Controller's Office.

Hours

Tech support is available for Controller's Office staff during regular business hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. See procedure below for emergency assistance between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.

Procedure

To request tech support:

  1. Call or email the University Financial Helpline
    612-624-1617
    fsshelp@umn.edu

  2. Communicate the details of your request
    Include: description of issue or need, contact information, location of desktop/printer/other device, deadline, and urgency:
    • Low, can wait indefinitely
    • Average, default if not specified, need this month
    • High, need this week
    • Critical, need today or tomorrow

  3. The Helpline staff will open a Service Center ticket. The tech support staff work from and update these tickets to ensure issues are prioritized, addressed in a timely manner, and statuses are tracked.
