Responsibilities

Sponsored Financial Reporting (SFR) is the institutional unit responsible for submitting financial reports and invoices to external entities to fulfill award requirements. The Director of SFR is currently designated as the institutional official and has the authority, or may delegate it, to sign financial reports, invoices, and to conduct any other official financial business with funding agencies and auditors, whether federal or private.

SFR currently reports to the Controller and Associate VP of Finance. Duties of SFR staff are specified below. SFR uses JDEdwards One World to carry out these duties.

Post Award Activity
  • Prepares interim and final reports and invoices.
  • Receives and records checks and wires from sponsored agencies.
  • Manages collections and accounts receivables.
  • Reconciles financial transactions with departments and general ledger.
  • Project Close-Out
  • Prepares accounting adjustments.
  • Analyze post-close out date activity to determine if allowable or applicable.
  • Inactivate account for close-out to ensure no further charges.
  • Designate account for purge.

Other Responsibilities
  • Audits - both internal and external.
  • Liaison with University departments, funding agencies and SPA regarding financial matters.
